Pilgri
mage Tour to Bhutan
Zuri Monastery
An easy thirty minute walk from the National Museum, Zuri Tmple
was built in 1352. The site was blessed by Guru Rimpoche. In the
9th century Tibetan Prince Lhasey Tsangma took refuge here while
banished by his heretical brother Lhangdharma who sought to
destroy Bhuddhism.
Zuri was built to protect Rinpung Dzong.
To approach the six
story building one crosses a narrow bridge with a steep drop on
both sides and then climbs the stairs leading to the massive
wooden doors. The third floor is dedicated to Guru Rimpoche. The
view of the Paro Valley from the fourth floor is dramatic.
